Numbered Cards (1 to 8 in each suit)
Each of the five suits has cards numbered from 1 to 8. An example Red 8 card is
shown on the right. The numbered cards show information about the elements:
-
Top Left Corner: Number of valence electrons and element symbol
-
Top Right Corner: Name, atomic number, and approximate atomic weight
-
Bottom Left Corner: Selected oxidation numbers
-
Bottom Right Corner: Number of electrons per energy level
-
Bottom Middle: Ground state electron configuration.
The "electrons" in the center are arranged similar to Lewis-Dot diagrams.

A Cards (1 in each suit)
Each suit has an A card that can be used as any element in the suit (period).
An example card is shown on the right. Referring to this figure, this card can
be used as any element in period 6 as shown in the periodic table on the bottom
of the card. The purple numbers in the top right corner indicate that the card
can be used as a Purple 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 card. The A cards display the
element symbol, the atomic number, and the number of electrons in each energy
level for each element in the period. Notice that these cards illustrate the
similarities in the electron configurations for the elements in the same
period.

Wild Metal, Semi-metal, and Non-metal Cards
The wild Metal, Semi-metal, and Non-metal cards can be used as any element in
the category. The wild Metal card is shown on the right as an example. This
card can be used as any metal shown in the periodic table on the card. The
different colored numbers in the top right corner represent the different cards
that it can represent. For example, it can be used as a Red 1 or 2, a Blue or
Green 1, 2, or 3, a Yellow 1, 2, 3, or 4, or a Purple 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 card.
This card shows which elements are classified as metals. The Semi-metal and
Non-metal cards show similar information. Recall that semi-metals have
characteristics of both metals and non-metals. While semi-metals generally lie
along the staircase, there is not universal agreement as to exactly which
elements are semi-metals.

Wild Transition Card
The wild Transition card can be used as any transition element as a Green,
Yellow, or Purple 1 or 2 card. Referring to figure, the Transition card shows
the transition elements and their outer-shell electron configurations.

Wild Alkali, Alkaline Earth, Halogen, and Noble Gas
The wild Alkali, Alkaline Earth, Halogen, and Nobel Gas cards can be used as
any element in the category. For example, the wild Alkali Metal card shown on
the right can be used as Lithium, Sodium, Potassium, Rubidium, Cesium, or
Francium. As shown in the upper right corner of the card, it can be used as any
color 1 card. These cards show the symbols, atomic numbers, and electron
configurations. Notice that the cards illustrate the similarities in the
electron configurations for the elements in the same group.

Wild Hydrogen Card
The wild Hydrogen card represents Hydrogen. It can be used as Hydrogen or as
any color 1. The card displays the same information as shown for the other
numbered cards and provides information about Hydrogen.
